Under the guidance and supervision of the cell lead, the successful candidate will work with product engineers, engineers, R&D staff, and other production personnel. As a part of the Plasma Small team (2-4 employees), you will be required to work with heavy equipment as well as smaller scale parts while meeting strict quality standards and production rates. Working in Plasma Small typically consists of working with and handling small products, used for food processing equipment, pumps, etc., strategically and quickly. Additionally, we pride ourselves on strict 5S procedures to maintain a clean working environment, and 100% safety at all times to ensure an incident free production standard. Typical production hours are Mon-Thurs, 10 hour days; and, daily and weekly overtime are distributed and expected to be worked as needed.
Job Duties and Expectations:
Assist in the operation of thermal spray systems and other components to process customer products in a safe and efficient manner
Produce high quality products without rework to meet production schedules
Willing to learn new information and techniques to include a variety of products, multiple machine operations, and 3+ powders for spraying parts
Must be flexible and adaptable, as many jobs require learning by doing; successful candidates will learn new processes daily as they work
Must be a team player to collaborate on jobs and meet time constraints as a team from start to finish, typically producing between 100-500 seals per day (which range from less than a pound to 40 pounds and one to six inches in diameter, which is set to an hourly rate
Team members must be able to use their hands constantly to tape raw parts, grit blast, spray/measure/buffs, use rags to put on sealer and conduct surface quality control and measuring
Team members will inspect end products and lap, polish, and package before shipping to the customer
Must have a mechanical aptitude and the ability to quickly solve problems and think through options to get production back up and running or to involve maintenance to resolve the issue
Must be able to work independently and run through parts order lists, thinking ahead and multitasking as to what can be done for multiple projects at one time
Team member should be able to use and read parameter sheets within two weeks, understand parameters within three weeks, spray parts within four weeks, start up booths to independently spray and run parts within five weeks, and do all cell operations required at the booth within six weeks
Execute tasks and responsibilities as required by the Quality System and ISO 9000 requirements
Maintain accurate, legible, and complete Quality and Process documentation
Other tasks as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Demonstrates strong technical skills
Ability to read and understand instructions and apply job requirements to ensure quality
Ability to read, write, and communicate English effectively
Adept with basic mathematics
Ability to keep detailed records regarding processes, procedures, inventory, etc.
Ability to analyze difficult situations and quickly solve problems and comply with production standards
Ability to work in a team atmosphere and in individual situations
Proficient in troubleshooting problems to rapidly obtain successful outcomes
Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Windows)
Ability to work well with personnel from all levels in all functions of the organization
Ability to operate equipment and machinery in a safe manner
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently; 50 pounds periodically
Ability to stand for ten hour shifts
Ability to work quickly with small products and assembly
Ability to swiftly handle smaller, machined units and machinery
Ability to wear proper personal protective equipment (earplugs, safety glasses, respirator)
